An AI seminar was held at Po Chiu Catholic Secondary School on April 28, 2023 to discuss the latest advancements in artificial intelligence and its potential impacts on industries and education. There were 17 participants from the ICT stream who participated in the seminar. Dr. Lau Ho Lam, from the Faculty of Science and Technology, shared his insights with students on topics such as basic AI, ChatGPT, natural language processing, and AI tools.
At the seminar, students learned about the definition and latest development of artificial intelligence and gained a better understanding of how AI can be used to solve real-world problems. Dr. Lau also provided examples of successful AI projects and encouraged students to explore the field further. The students were interested in the powerful applications of AI and asked questions about its potential impacts on society, leading to a lively discussion on the ethical considerations surrounding the development and use of AI technology.
The seminar strengthened the collaboration between the secondary school and the college. The students and teachers have expressed interest in our upcoming activities and wish to visit our new Tai Wai campus during the summer. The seminar not only provided the students with valuable insights into AI technology but also fostered a sense of community and academic engagement among the participants. It was a successful event that left a positive impression on everyone involved.
