Associate of Arts in English for Professional Communication
Launched in 1994, this is one of Hong Kong’s longest running associate degree programmes and over 2,000 graduates from the programme have successfully gone on to further their studies or enter the world of work. As English remains essential in Hong Kong as China’s “International City” and gateway to the rest of the world, the demand for competent users of English who are able to meet the needs of the workforce and the community is therefore very high. With a balance of communication and language courses supplemented with digital communication and technology, the programme helps students develop the skills and abilities to match current trends in the 21st century, essential to young people articulating into further studies or entering the workplace.
Over 90% of graduates successfully continue their studies in a bachelor’s degree with over 50% articulating into Year 3 of government funded degree programmes. Graduates may articulate into a wide range of bachelor degree programmes offered by local tertiary institutions in language, communication and education-related disciplines, or consider the Bachelor of Communication and Media offered by University of Wollongong, Australia. For employment, graduates are well prepared for a wide variety of jobs in public and customer relations, media, editing, personnel administration, and teaching, and in any area where a strong ability in English language communication is essential.
Graduates of the AAEPC can articulate into UOW Bachelor of Communication and Media.

Ms CHOY Sin Yee Wisca
Graduate of Associate of Arts in English for Professional Communication (AAEPC) in 2013
Graduate of BA (Hons) in English Studies for the Professions, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2015
Postgraduate Diploma of Education (Primary), The Hong Kong Institute of Education (now The Education University of Hong Kong) in 2016
After my A-level examinations in 2011, I decided to take the Associate of Arts in English for Professional Communication (AAEPC) and graduated in 2013. I then successfully articulated into Year 3 of the BA (Hons) in English Studies for the Professions at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, followed by the Postgraduate Diploma of Education (Primary) – English at the then Hong Kong Institute of Education.
I'm currently working as a primary school teacher at a local primary school. Recently, I have successfully completed a part-time Master of Arts in English Studies at the University of Hong Kong.
Becoming a primary school teacher is one of my great achievements. Although I didn’t enter a bachelor degree programme directly after my secondary education, the AAEPC was an excellent choice and prepared me very well for my bachelor degree studies.
