UOWCHK aims to equip students of the College to join society’s workforce and improve their employability upon graduation by providing them with comprehensive career-related learning opportunities and support training.

With the establishment of the Section, a series of career preparation training seminars, workshops, company visits, internship and job-shadowing programmes will be organized. Through these activities, participating students will be able to develop essential job application and interview skills. They will also acquire practical knowledge and realistic understanding of the employment market, reflect on their interest in the relevant industry and enhance their personal attributes like self-confidence, communication and self-presentation skills.

Summer Internship Subsidy (updated in Nov 2024)

To encourage students’ participation in summer internships, the College offers a Summer Internship Subsidy (SIS) to students undertaking an unpaid internship who meet the requirements set out below, relieving the financial burden they may be facing and also as an appreciation of their effort and hard work.

A maximum of HK$3,000 will be granted to successful applicants. Interns who meet the following requirements are eligible to apply for the SIS.

Requirements

  • Interns should be full-time students enrolled in bachelor degree/associate degree/higher diploma programmes.
  • Interns should have completed an internship under “The Student Centre Summer Internship Programme” OR an internship that is endorsed by their respective Associate Dean/ Programme Leader.
  • The internship should last for at least a month.
  • Interns should NOT have received any salary/allowance/financial support in any form from their employer/hiring company.
  • Interns should have proven satisfactory work performance in the internship.

Students who are currently participated in/about to commence their internship in this summer are eligible to apply for the SIS after they have completed their internship.

Applications should reach the Student Centre on or before 20 September 2024. Late and incomplete applications will not be entertained. Students MUST read through the requirements and application methods HERE before submitting their applications.

The Transport and Logistics Bureau (TLB) has launched the Internship Scheme on Modern Logistics to provide sponsorship to eligible logistics companies for recruiting interns to undertake duties relating to modern logistics. The Scheme aims to promote and support the sustainable development of the logistics industry, nurture talents and allow more young people to learn about the innovative and digital logistics technologies and operations in the modern logistics industry, so as to encourage them to join the logistics industry after graduation.

Eligibility
Hong Kong residents who are lawfully employable in Hong Kong, and currently* –

  1. full-time students (including those who are in their final year of study)– undertaking undergraduate or sub-degree or diploma programmes in tertiary or training institutions in or outside Hong Kong; and
  2. not beneficiaries under any publicly-funded internship programmes.
    * Excluding students currently undertaking postgraduate programmes.

With the support of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) is going to launch the second edition of “2024/25 Arts Talents Internship Matching Programme” in early July. It aims to nurture and provide 18-month internship opportunities for talented graduates from tertiary institutions to enter the industry in their initial years. Targeted at various art forms and different positions within the industry, the Programme matches eligible graduates with arts organizations through a continuous mechanism, allowing them to gain experience through on-the-job training.

Eligibility:

  • Permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region aged 18 or above;
  • Graduates of local or overseas university, obtained within the last 3 school years* while submitting the application

Internship Scheme: Artistic (music/dance/drama/xiqu) & Production Personnel (stage arts/ design/ production/ management)
Eligibility:

  • Permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region aged 18 or above;
  • Associate Degree Graduates or Higher Diploma Holders of local or overseas tertiary institutes or above, obtained within the last 3 school years* while submitting the application

Lantau District, Hong Kong Police Force is now recruiting summer interns under the Post-Secondary Student Summer Internship Programme 2024.

Job Description
Two interns will be appointed to assist the Police and Community Relations Office in the implementation of summer internship program for:
design and create publicity graphics/videos for social media platforms;
support indoor and outdoor video productions;
organize a series of youth engagement campaigns; and
complete other youth engagement duties as directed by the supervisors.

Entry Requirements
To be qualified for nomination, the applicants should:

The Civil Service Bureau launched the Internship Programme for Non-ethnic Chinese Students (“NEC Programme”) with a view to helping young NEC students accumulate work experience and enhance their competitiveness for employment. So far, over 140 NEC students have participated in the NEC Programme.

Selected students will have their internship in different Government bureau and departments. The internship placements will generally involve providing administrative support in the day-to-day operation of the bureau/department and/or implementation of projects. Some of the placements may also specifically relate to the provision of public service to NEC communities in Hong Kong so that the interns can give play to their strengths in the knowledge of NEC languages and cultures.

Launched by Civil Service Bureau in 2016 with the dual aims of allowing students with disabilities to gain hands-on work experience in the Government, as well as enabling civil service colleagues to appreciate the talents and potential of persons with disabilities, the Scheme has been conducted with positive feedbacks in the previous years.

Interns will be posted to different Bureaux/Departments (B/Ds) for provision of support including general administration and/or policy support, human resource management, financial resource management, event management, system/project planning and development, and/or support to boards and councils, etc. Interns may also be required to perform non-administration duties. About five days of training/briefing will be provided by the B/D offering the internship place. A mentor will be assigned to each intern to assist them in adapting to the working environment.

A certificate of internship will be provided to the interns upon successful completion of their internship, depending on their attendance rate and performance.

The primary objective of the ASSIP is to give students who wish to pursue an Administrative Officers (AO) career an opportunity to get hands-on experience of working with serving AOs, so as to facilitate their future career planning. Interns will be assigned duties similar in nature to those of AOs in different government bureaux or departments. They will also have the opportunity to visit various government offices and / or relevant public organisations.

Selection Criteria
Applicants must possess permanent resident status in the HKSAR. They must be students undergoing full-time undergraduate or postgraduate studies at a local, Mainland or overseas tertiary institution in the 2023-24 and 2024-25 academic years, with a view to obtaining by summer 2025 or 2026 (i.e. by September) a bachelor’s degree. Applicants who are expected to graduate in 2025 (current Year 3 students) would be given higher priority.
In addition, applicants should fulfill the below requirements –

  1. being committed to serve the community and with an interest in pursuing a career in the Administrative Service after graduation;
  2. possessing leadership qualities;
  3. being able to work in a team;
  4. being active in community / school activities;
  5. with outstanding academic achievements; and
  6. having a good command of both Chinese and English.

The HKEAA reserves the right to terminate the service agreement and withhold the service fee due to unsatisfactory performance of the OEA.

Punctuality
Punctuality is extremely important. The training session and examination will begin promptly. You will not be allowed to provide the service for the session if you arrive late.

Proof of identity
If you are selected, you must bring your service agreement, HKID card and student ID card to the examination centre.

Result of applications
You can inquire about the status of your application anytime via the EPO system by logging in with your HKID Card Number and your Application Number. Successful applicants will receive a service agreement by email about two weeks before the relevant examination date. Please ensure that the email address you give in the EPO system is correct. (Note: OEAs are appointed to provide services as independent contractors. The service agreement does not give rise to any employment relationship between the OEAs and the HKEAA.)

The Government has issued a press release on 1st June 2023 announcing that in order to attract people with aspirations to serve the community to join the civil service and to enable young people to better plan their future career development, starting from this year, the Government will expand the pool of eligible candidates for civil service jobs requiring an undergraduate degree to students advancing to their third year of undergraduate studies (in a four-year curriculum) in the new academic year or those currently in their third year of undergraduate studies. Recommended candidates will be granted a conditional offer and will join the Government upon graduation, subject to their fulfillment of specified conditions, including the completion of the relevant academic qualification within a stipulated period of time.

The Common Recruitment Examination (CRE) and the Basic Law and National Security Law Test (Degree/Professional Grades) (BLNST) tentatively scheduled for October (in Hong Kong) and December (in cities outside Hong Kong) this year, and the Joint Recruitment Examination for Administrative Officer, Executive Officer II, Assistant Labour Officer II, Assistant Trade Officer II, Management Services Officer II and Transport Officer II (JRE) scheduled for December (in Hong Kong and cities outside Hong Kong) will be open to persons holding a bachelor's degree, final year undergraduate students (i.e. graduating in the 2023-24 academic year), and penultimate year undergraduate students graduating in the 2024-25 academic year.

The next round of the CRE and BLNST is tentatively scheduled to be open for application in August (for examinations in Hong Kong) and September (fo rexaminations outside Hong Kong) this year, while the JRE (for examinations in and outside Hong Kong) is tentatively scheduled to be open for application in September.

The objective of this course is to introduce the basic concepts and code-writing skills of the computer program Python to the students. By adopting a step-by-step approach, participants can learn the basic coding skills of data analyses. Learning Python can open the doors to numerous career opportunities and enable you to work on a wide range of projects. This will enable the students to substantiate their CVs for future work or study.

Administrative Officers (AO) are professional public administrators who play a key role in the HKSAR Government. They are involved in policy formulation, resource allocation, implementation of major government programmes and promotion of the interests of Hong Kong in the Mainland and overseas. The deadline for the AO application in 2024/25 is 4 October 2024 at 11:59pm (HK Time).

Entry Requirements
Candidates should have -


    1. A first or second class honours bachelor’s degree from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent; or
    2. A postgraduate degree from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent, where the qualifications considered in totality are comparable to the requirement in (a)(i);
  1. A Pass in the Aptitude Test in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE)
  2. A good command of both Chinese and English and have met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 in the two language papers (Use of Chinese and Use of English) in the CRE, or equivalent; and
  3. A pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test (Degree / Professional Grades) (BLNST).
