A group of 17 UOWCHK staff including 9 academic staff, visited the Tai Wai campus in early January 2023 to get a closer look of what is on offer at the campus. In a mock tutorial room, three interactive whiteboards have been installed, one of which is even height-adjustable to accommodate teachers of varying heights and thereby further enhancing the delivery of courses. Teachers were able to experiment with using projected messages in the built-in EasyWrite function of the board. The group also learnt the benefits of placing a voice-tracked camera in the centre of the classroom that supports online teaching. The teacher's desk in the room is designed to house the laptop and visualizer only but with larger width between the desk and the wall to make a more comfortable use of space for teaching.
The group also visited the lecture hall, computer laboratories, engineering laboratory, maritime simulation laboratory, library, and staff office to get a good sense of how the entire project was progressing. Project manager Bluestone informed that over 190 people were engaged in the fitting out of the site. Everything is on schedule and we can look forward to an exciting time in the new campus in September 2023!
