A delegation from Chartered AccountantsTM, Australia + New Zealand visited the College on 21 July 2023, consisting of Mr. Simon Grant, Group Executive – Advocacy, Professional Standards & International, Ms. Geraldine Magarey, Executive Director – International Development, and Ms. Elizabeth Chan, Head of Hong Kong Office. The purpose of the visit was to introduce the professional qualification of Chartered AccountantsTM (CA) Australia + New Zealand and explore opportunities for educational collaboration via incorporating professional training into the College’s curriculum.
Ms. Currie Tsang, the College’s President, started the meeting with an overview of the history of UOW College Hong Kong, its former connection with CityU, and its present relationship with the University of Wollongong, Australia as part of its global network. Dr. Kenneth Chong, introduced the faculty and various programmes offered by the College, highlighting the associate degree and degree programs in accounting and the job demand in the market. Simon Grant discussed the status of the professional body and the mutual recognition for CPA Hong Kong. The conversation was fruitful and informative, providing the College with a thorough understanding of CA Australia + New Zealand.
After the meeting, Dr. Charlie Choi, the College’s Vice President led a tour of the Tai Wai new campus for the visitors. He showcased the use of Cisco products to enhance blended learning and introduced them to the facilities and equipment available for student practice, including the aviation laboratory, engineering laboratory, design studio, and maritime simulation laboratory. The visitors were impressed with the setup and commended the facilities for their contribution to student learning.
