On 9th June 2023, the College organized a workshop to demonstrate the use of generative AI tools to enhance productivity by automating repetitive tasks. Emphasis was given to teaching-related tasks such as setting examination questions, creating assignments and rubrics, and producing a series of teaching activities based on the syllabus and pedagogy. The workshop demonstrated the use of mail merge to generate prompts to expedite the process of retrieval and showed how to use Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to link with other documents for automatic assignment marking. Finally, the speaker extended the prompts to produce course information records, including aims, outcomes, keyword syllabi, teaching activities, alignment between outcomes and activities, reference materials in APA format, and revision history. Over 25 academic staff attended the workshop, which consisted of demonstrations and a question-and-answer session. The feedback from participants was positive and focused on student learning.
