The College held a successful AI Week from 11th to 14th February 2025 to introduce students to cutting-edge AI tools and demonstrate their potential to enhance academic and self-learning experiences. The event also fostered a deeper understanding of ethical considerations, leaving participants inspired and better prepared for the future.
Over the four days 38 participants explored various AI applications like basic AI, machine learning and its application together with tools like Magic School, Notebook LM, picture/video generation tools, and DeepSeek, while also addressing academic integrity and plagiarism.
Other tools showcased included Ideogram, a tool for generating visual content from text descriptions. Participants learnt about AI ethics and the College’s policies, emphasizing responsible AI use and academic integrity. Among the practical AI applications introduced was Notebook LM, a tool for research, writing, and problem-solving. These hands-on sessions equipped students with practical skills to integrate AI into their studies. Others introduced included Luma, a video generation tool that converts images into videos, sparking excitement about its creative possibilities.
Participants showed special interest in machine learning concepts and how AI could streamline information finding, writing, logic thinking, and problem-solving. The discussions on ethics and plagiarism further highlighted their commitment to using AI responsibly. AI Week successfully empowered students with the knowledge and skills to leverage AI in their studies.
