Australia’s Ambassador to China, Mr Scott Dewar, paid a visit to UOW College Hong Kong on 25 March 2024, en route to his new post in Beijing. The one-hour visit included a brief introduction to the College from senior management of UOWCHK, a tour of the Tai Wai campus, and a visit to a class of UOWCHK students. Ms Currie Tsang, UOWCHK President, explained the niche and role of the College in the field of tertiary education in Hong Kong, and expressed the hope to admit more students from the Chinese Mainland. During the campus tour Mr Dewar viewed various new facilities of the College including the Maritime laboratory, library, fitness room, and dance studio. He made a quick visit to a class in Appreciation of Western Art taught by Ms Maria Jose Pareja Lopez, and greeted the enthusiastic students. Ambassador Dewar said he was impressed with what the College offers to the Hong Kong community, and encouraged the College to achieve more. Mr Dewar was accompanied by Ms Elise Gruttner, Second Secretary (Political) of the Australian Embassy Beijing; Mr Patrick Orchard, Consul (Political-Economic), Australian Consulate-General Hong Kong; and Ms Joanna Bayndrian, Director of Public Affairs, Australian Consulate-General Hong Kong.
