Organic Ambassador Training Scheme by Hong Kong Organic Resource Centre forwards and carries the concept of sustainable development, and implants organic farming knowledge within students through introducing local organic agriculture. It also aims to let students review the strong binding between agriculture and the environment, the society and the economy.
The scheme aims to introduce local organic agriculture and aquaculture to students, allowing them to acknowledge the importance of organic farming to the environment and our society. Through providing service opportunities in public events, the scheme cultivate students’ sense of responsibility to the natural environment and encourage them to propagate the message of organic green living to the public proactively.
Eleven Associate of Science in Environmental Studies students joined the Training Scheme 2020/21. They joined seminars and workshops to gain the organic concepts. Then they have to do a 1-day organic farmer and perform duties in educational events, to fine-tune their farming skills and communication skills. Among all, CHAN Sin Man and LAU Po Kit received the Silver Award and Bronze Award, respectively. UOW College Hong Kong was one of the Colleges awarded with “Best Organic Promotion”. The ceremony was held online on 7 July 2021 and Senior Agriculture Officer from Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department presented the awards to the College and the students.
