At the College, we place high value on communication with parents as it allows us to address concerns about our students and college development. On 18th February, 2023, the College hosted a Parents’ Day in two sessions, one in English and the other Chinese (See picture 1). There were more than 30 participants, one of whom was our alumna Athena sharing her study experience at the College. In the opening remarks, Dr. Charlie Choi explained the challenges that Hong Kong’s youngsters are facing and the knowledge and skills that they need to equip with to survive in this competitive environment. He then talked about the relationship between our mother institution University of Wollongong, Australia and the College. Dr. Choi spoke on two interesting topics, i.e., the College’s graduate employment survey and the Tai Wai new campus which will become operational in September 2023.
Our alumna, Athena who completed the Associate of Business Administration in Marketing in the College with a GPA of 3.9 reported that she had received four offers from HKU, HKUST, and CityU when she graduated from this College. She ultimately decided to enrol at HKUST for the Faculty's high standing. She fondly shared her recollections with the audience about how she formed strong relationships with her lecturers, worked in group projects with her classmates, mastered examination techniques, and actively participated in college-wide activities as a class representative and student mentor. She hinted that many university professors place a strong emphasis on students' life skills, such as management and leadership abilities (See picture 2). The event was interesting and informative, and questions were eagerly raised about GPA requirement for further studies, university’s application period, and preparation for the interviews.
