The College hosted an online workshop on 10 April 2022 for parents and DSE fresh candidates on how to manage examination stress, communicate effectively with their children, and maintain a healthy balance of diet, exercise, and rest. There were 15 students/parents attending the event and about 20 who had signed up. The first speaker, Oyan, stated that a little stress might be beneficial since it can provide the motivating push we need to complete tasks. She began by asking the attendees to assess their individual stress levels before offering ideas for improvement. Dr. Lau, the second speaker, advised a menu for the fresh candidates that was nutritionally balanced. She emphasized that a bad diet, insufficient rest, and insufficient activity might exacerbate anxiety symptoms. It was preferable to have adequate hours of sleep, enough slow-release carbohydrates, no sugar, less coffee but more water, and at least half an hour of exercise every day for the body's greatest performance. The third speaker, Priscilla, shared her examination skills and study style. Now studying at HKU, she has completed a two-year degree programme at this College. Even if you didn't perform well in the DSE examination, she said, don't give up because there are certainly other opportunities waiting for you. Finally, Oyan offered her knowledge on how to interact with participants’ children and emphasized the significance of mutual respect. Overall, the workshop was both informative and educational.
