The "Parents' Day at UOW College Hong Kong" at the Kowloon City Campus was attended by about 40 parents on August 6, 2022. The College organised the event with the objectives of promoting understanding and communication between parents and the College as well as assisting parents in planning for their children's college education and in planning effective communications with their children.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Charlie Choi welcomed everyone to the event and thanked them for coming. He described the challenges that Hong Kong's youth would certainly face and the knowledge and skills they need for survival in the competitive world. He said, "The College has a long-standing commitment to offering learners a top-notch education under our sincere care. We aim to take advantage of this opportunity to improve parents’ understanding of the College, its relationship with University of Wollongong, and its vision, mission, programmes, development direction and performance indicators. and their communications with the College.”
Two final-year students were invited by the College to share their achievements. They each received more than five offers from UGC-funded institutions. After much consideration, one of them chose Hong Kong University, while the other decided to continue her studies at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Questions were eagerly raised about GPA requirement for further studies, procedure for applying for government financial assistance, deadline for applying for further studies, and the ILETS requirement. The participants provided the event with very positive feedback, making it a huge success.
