Staff at UOW College Hong Kong recently gained further insights into the capability of artificial intelligence and how they may apply it in their work. At the Leveraging AI Tools to Enhance Productivity workshop in late January 2025, participants learnt how to integrate AI into administrative workflows, reinforcing UOWCHK’s commitment to innovation. Combining demonstrations with collaborative discussions, the workshop focused on tools to streamline tasks, improve data accuracy, and foster creativity.
Facilitated by Dr. Lau Ho-lam, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, and Dr. Charlie Choi, Vice-President, the workshop began with a deep dive into prompt engineering, demonstrating how precise language can optimise generative AI tools such as Poe, Perplexity, and Co-Pilot. Attendees saw how prompts to automate communications, draft documents, and extract insights could be crafted, using practical examples tailored to administrative challenges.
The workshop also introduced DeepSeek, an AI platform designed to revolutionise data management. Participants learned techniques for merging datasets, drafting emails with scheduling reminding notes, and validating data accuracy. Ideogram and Luma were also shown for generating SEO-optimized social media content, branded visuals, and promotional videos. The workshop concluded with a live demonstration of integrating Botpress with admission data to create a WhatsApp checkbot capable of answering enquiries from potential applicants.
Participants were interested in tailoring these tools to their specific needs, underscoring AI’s transformative role in advancing the College’s digital initiatives. In empowering staff to harness AI, the College puts itself at the forefront of educational innovation.
