Distinguished alumni and supporters of the University of Wollongong took centre-stage as they attended a dinner in their honour on 20 April 2024 at the Hotel Icon in Hong Kong.
Speaking on behalf of UOW Vice-chancellor and President Professor Patricia M Davidson, Ms. Currie Tsang, President of UOW College Hong Kong, thanked the alumni members and supporters for their support, and emphasized the university's commitment to excellence in education and its pride in the achievements of its alumni. She paid tribute to the alumni, who have emerged as prominent leaders in their respective fields, spanning education, finance, IT, manufacturing, and professional services.
Ms Tsang took the opportunity to update the attendees on the latest developments at the University of Wollongong and UOW College Hong Kong. The diverse group included Dr. Christopher Au, Managing Director, Greater China, Hohenstein Institute; Dr. Joseph Leung, the Director of Corporate Development at AsiaPay Ltd.; Paul Cheuk, the Global Banking Business Partner at HSBC; Martin Eber, Global Head of Information Security Risk Oversight at Morgan Stanley; Thomas Puget, CFO at Natixis CIB APAC; Dr. Kristen Murray, University Lecturer and Public Policy Adviser, University of Hong Kong; Jing Zhou, Senior Director, Data Center, Alternatives and Strategic Transactions, Nuveen; Dr Kristie Craigen, Clinical Psychologist & Managing Director; and two from UOW College Hong Kong.
It was a lively dinner with the alumni networking amongst themselves, exchanging ideas and updating their status. More importantly, they discussed potential internship opportunities for students of UOW College Hong Kong. All of them expressed their willingness to act as guest speakers at future UOWCHK events to share their practical experiences and exposures with students and the UOW community.
The event enabled the alumni to reconnect, share their experiences, and explore potential collaborations. The gathering was both enriching and rewarding, and most certainly reinforced the strong bond between UOW, UOW College Hong Kong, and our dedicated alumni, who will continue to be great ambassadors for the University.
