A graduate from UOW College Hong Kong’s Diploma of Applied Education (DAE) was recently among recipients of the Sir Robert Black Trust Fund Award. The grants aim to provide recognition to the efforts of students to seek self-improvement. Ms IP Yu Shan, DAE graduate from 2024, was presented with the award at a ceremony on 20 January 2025. The $5,000 award is given to DAE graduates with outstanding all-round performance during their studies. “We are glad that Ms IP is recognized for her hard work. Being a mature student, she always helps provide guidance and help to other students. She is very attentive in class and work strenuously to make improvements, especially in English,” said Dr. Louisa Yuen, DAE Programme Leader. Ms Ip studied the DAE programme at UOWCHK with the elective cluster of Korean Language and Culture. She now works in a Korean firm. “The amount of award may not really reflect how hard we work, but it is still an acknowledgment of my efforts through the past year. It is also proof that if we devote time to our studies, scholarships are not something beyond our reach,” said Ms IP. UOW College Hong Kong introduced the DAE a couple of years ago and more than 70% of our DAE graduates have gone on to further studies.
