The Education Path at the EMSD Headquarters at Kowloon Bay is intended to promote awareness of green building technologies and to introduce the works of EMSD that are closely related to daily life of people. It comprises 3 exhibition areas and a rooftop viewing gallery that offers a breathtaking view of an array of over 2,000 photovoltaic panels which altogether has a total area exceeding 3,000 m2.
The EMSD Gallery at G/F demonstrates various works of EMSD. The students were fascinated by the interactive displays and exhibition boards there. The outdoor piazza demonstrates various green building features. Vertical greening is a combined concept of traditional landscape design and roof garden system applying on the wall. As a demonstration on promoting green buildings by the government, it effectively utilizes spaces to improve greening ratio, and brings nature back to urban areas. Besides, there are lots of energy saving devices being installed at the Headquarters such as Solar Lights, Solar Water Heating System, Shading Device, Grey Water Recycling System, Double Glazing Windows and Concentrated Photovoltaic. Student gained a lot about these devices.
